At Freshening, our team is a blend of diverse backgrounds and experiences, coming together to foster a vibrant work environment.
Among our remarkable team members is Eric, also affectionately known as Ah Cang within the company, who at 23 years old, is currently our youngest team member.
Eric was barely 18 years old when he first joined Freshening in 2018, full of youthful energy and keen interest to learn.
Tell us more about yourself and your family.
I am from Ipoh, Malaysia. My family has a unique geographic split, with my parents and one younger sister residing in Malaysia, while the rest of my siblings in Singapore.
How was it like moving to Singapore?
Moving to Singapore was a dream come true. The initial phase was very challenging though. Money was tight, and I struggled with English.
Fortunately, during my stay here, I had the opportunity to enroll in a marketing management program at Kaplan. Additionally, my work in the e-commerce team has also helped me in improving my language skills as I interact with customers on a daily basis.
Tell us something you’ve done on this job which you are most proud of.
I took the lead in implementing a system for monitoring customer interactions and orders. This has helped in better management of deliveries.
What do you hope to gain from this job experience?
My intention is to eventually return to Malaysia and establish my own e-commerce platform while also venturing into the realm of reselling. I aim to acquire the fundamental skills and knowledge here in Singapore and return when I feel adequately prepared.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Outside of work hours, I regularly visit the stadium to engage in basketball and badminton sessions, through which I’ve had the pleasure of forming some wonderful friendships. We would often go for dinners together. It’s a great way to unwind!
