Where It All Began

Freshening traces its roots back to 1994 when it first started out at a modest shop unit in Eunos, Singapore. With a desire to elevate hygiene standards, it carved out a niche by pioneering an industry’s first – the simple but novel idea of individually wrapped wet towels for restaurants under the Smartowel brand, which have since become a mainstay in the food and beverage & hospitality industries.

Since then, Freshening has made further strides in diversifying its offerings and serving a variety of sectors. It made its foray into the healthcare industry at the height of the SARS outbreak in 2003 with medical care brand HospiCare, where it supplied antiseptic & alcohol wipes to major hospitals & nursing homes.

In a span of the next two years, it developed personal care brand Zappy which has grown to be a household name well-loved by many. From its humble beginnings, Freshening has evolved to be a regional hygiene specialist & leading manufacturer of wet wipes, sanitisers & disinfectants. Today, we remain committed to delivering value to our partners & customers while enriching lives around the globe with superior hygiene solutions.
